A heartfelt thank‑you to all of you for your easygoing spirit this spring! We missed an April newsletter, shifted our May Speaker Meeting date, and you still showed up with enthusiasm. That kind of flexibility is what makes this club feel like a real community.
We on the Executive Board may help steer the ship, but it’s your ideas that set the course. Let us know what you want more of, what you’re curious about, or what would make your experience even better. Your input keeps this club moving forward, and we’re grateful for it. 🙏
Share your thoughts anytime by dropping us a line at kitchenertechclub@gmail.com.

Beyond relying on passwords, adding an extra layer of authentication has become essential for keeping your online accounts secure. It helps prevent criminals from accessing your information even if your login details are exposed in a breach.
This month, we’re taking a closer look at two widely used security options - Passkeys vs Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) - and how they compare.

We know that some of you are exploring the use of Linux as their desktop/laptop operating system (versus Windows or MacOS). Perhaps some of you may recall a past guest speaker, Bob Jonkman, at our club? (Editor's note: It must have been more than 4 years ago, prior to when I first joined!) Bob is a Host and Producer of CKMS Community Connections at CKMS 102.7 Radio Waterloo, Mondays 11am-Noon and alternate Fridays at 3pm. He also serves on the Technical, Program and Music Committees.
Bob recently interviewed Andrew Solomon Cant, a local software developer who is a volunteer leader with the Kitchener-Waterloo Linux User Group (KWLUG), on air. The interview covers a number of topics, including the role of free software (such as Linux) and a future meeting of KWLUG (now past) where Bob Jonkman was talking about LibreTime - radio scheduling and automation software used at the radio station. The entire interview was captured on video, which you can watch at https://storage.radiowaterloo.ca/ckms-community-connections-2026-04-27-episode252-Andrew-Sullivan-Cant-of-KWLUG.mp4. If you've ever wondered what the inside of a radio studio looks like, here's an opportunity to see for yourself!
Many thanks to one of our club members, Brian Bentley, who kindly shared the link to the CKMS on-air broadcast! Brian also warns that there are "a couple of pieces of (horrid) music during the hour. Feel free to skip ahead." ☺️
